Woody Tasch: Slow Money, Nurture Capital

Slow Money founder Wood Tasch asks: What do microbes and millions have in common? The answer: Nurture capital. That’s when finance and food connect to ensure that healthy soil — nourished by microbes — creates a healthy economy, feeding healthy bodies for a healthy profit. It’s good for everyone!

We welcome Woody Tasch to our Modern Grange to discuss the properties of nurture capital and to learn about his new book SOIL: Notes Toward the Theory and Practice of Nurture Capital. Hailed by German journalist Daniel Boese as “the Walden for the 21st century,” SOIL offers a vision of finance that starts where investing and philanthropy leave off, giving us a new way to reconnect to one another and places where we live, all the way down to local food systems.

Founded in 2009, the Slow Money movement has helped investors support more than 625 organic farms and local food businesses around the world.
