SHED Book Group – The Third Plate

Meet with other readers, SHED customers, and staff for the SHED Food Lover’s Book Group, where we’ll tackle the history, philosophy, and politics of food with works by some of our favorite authors. We’ll share our passion for eating, cooking, and reading in a lively discussion group.

The first group of 2017 meets on Wednesday, January 25 in the SHED Grange. We will discuss Dan Barber’s The Third Plate, a book written after the famous chef had spent more than a decade investigating farming communities around the world. Drawing on the wisdom and experience of chefs, farmers, and seed breeders around the world, Barber concludes that–for the sake of our food, our health, and the future of the land—America’s cuisine required a radical transformation and proposes a new definition for ethical and delicious eating.

Come having read the book and bring your questions. Bring up a drink or a snack from SHED’s fermentation bar and join us in a discussion perfect for eaters, chefs, and everyone who imagines a future for our national cuisine that is as sustainable as it is delicious.
