Evolution of Organic, The Story of the Organic Movement

Join us for a special screening of Evolution of Organic from filmmaker Mark Kitchell, narrated by Frances McDormand. It’s the story of organic agriculture, told by those who built the movement. We follow the heartfelt journey from a small band of rebels to a cultural transformation in the way we grow and eat food. Not just a history, the film explores how the next generation is expanding organic and carbon farming as a solution to climate change.

Mark Kitchell – director, writer, and producer – is best known for Berkeley in the Sixties, which was nominated for an Academy Award, and became a classic film about the 1960s protest movements in America. More recently he made A Fierce Green Fire, an acclaimed exploration of environmental activism.

The screening will be preceded by a reception and panel discussion with Sonoma County pioneers of organic:

— David Katz of Farallones Institute, the predecessor to the Occidental Arts & Ecology Center (OAEC)
— Jacob Katz, his son, founder of the Nigiri Project
— Ruthie King, director of operations and livestock manager at the School of Adaptive Agriculture
— Other panelists to be announced.

Following the screening, there will be a Q&A session.
