Luminarias with John van der Zee
Raise a glass to literature with Healdsburg author John van der Zee, author of 13 published books including “Blackadore” and the best-seller The Gate: The True Story of the Design and Construction of the Golden Gate Bridge in the continuation of the Healdsburg Literary Guild’s Luminarias series. He written books on the sex scandal in the Santa Rosa Catholic diocese (Agony in the Garden, 2003), The Bohemian Club (The Greatest Men’s Party on Earth, 1974), literary San Francisco (The Imagined City: San Francisco in the Minds of its Writers, 1981), and much more. His latest published work is the novel Blackadore about Adolph Hitler and South American politics in the 1930’s and 40’s. When van der Zee comes to SHED he will reveal his latest work in progress. Come peek into the mind of a prolific writer and find out which way his innovative spirit wends in this new endeavor.
The Healdsburg Literary Guild has pursued its mission to enrich the cultural environment of the greater Healdsburg community through the literary art for decades. The Guild served the greater Healdsburg area by sponsoring the Literary Laureate honor. It also has conducted a literary venue since 2000 when the Guild started hosting the monthly Third Sunday Salon. In producing Luminarias, the Guild seeks to bring the best literary talent in the world one of the world’s truly great communities.
