LOOK & SEE: A Portrait of Wendell Berry
LOOK & SEE: A Portrait of Wendell Berry, is a new film that profiles the philosopher farmer as he returned home to Henry County and began a life of farming, writing and teaching. The first documentary about Berry, undoubtedly one of America’s most significant living writers, LOOK & SEE blends observational scenes of farming life and interviews with farmers and community members with evocative, carefully framed shots of the surrounding landscape. Thus, in the spirit of Berry’s agrarian philosophy, Henry County itself will emerge as a character in the film – a place and a landscape that is deeply interdependent with the people that inhabit it.
In this very special screening of the film we will be joined by Wendell’s daughter, Mary Berry, who is Executive Director of The Berry Center, and Debbie Barker, the former international programs director at the Center for Food Safety who works with The Berry Center on special projects.
Tickets include a short reception with a bite from the SHED kitchen and a talk by Mary and Debbie preceding the film, and a Q&A following the film. Please plan on arriving right at 6pm so you don’t miss any of this important event!
