Taste of Place with John Ash and Baker Lane Vineyards
Celebrate wild and uncultivated foods with two-time James Beard award winner John Ash and his new book “Cooking Wild” at a special Taste of Place dinner at SHED featuring a wild menu prepared by SHED’s Chef Perry Hoffman paired with wines from Baker Lane Vineyard’s Stephen Singer.
Known as the “father of Wine Country cuisine,” John Ash is an award-winning author, teacher, and restaurateur. A Santa Rosa resident, Ash co-hosts a weekly local food and wine radio talk show, The Good Food Hour, and teaches cooking classes at various schools.
Baker Lane Vineyards is 15 acres of Biodynamically farmed Syrah and Viognier and olive orchards which Stephen Singer and his team use to produce exceptional expressions of sustainably grown cool climate wines. Stephen served for 15 years as a Board Member and the wine director for Chez Panisse, and was engaged in the ongoing green revolution that it helped spawn. He has been a wine consultant for many restaurants throughout the Bay Area.
Taste of Place is a unique dining series that explores Sonoma County’s wines through the terroir, history, and philosophy of the local growers and winemakers who inspire us. Gather with us to enjoy chef Perry Hoffman’s thoughtfully designed menu, one that represents a unique collaboration between winemaker and chef. Each Taste of Place dinner is designed to awaken the palate—and stimulate the brain—in a new way. By upending the usual winemaker’s dinner setting through the introduction of interviews, conversations, and unique additional sensory experiences, we aim to entice and provoke while creating fond memories of sharing the table together.
