Farmers and Friends Movie Night
Winter is a slow time for those who work in the dirt. So come to SHED’s Modern Grange and spend a winter evening in the company of farmers. We will be showing a double feature of films celebrating the challenges and rewards of growing food, and offering the screening free to farmers.
Unbroken Ground explains the critical role food will play in the next frontier of our efforts to solve the environmental crisis. It explores four areas of agriculture that aim to change our relationship to the land and oceans. Most of our food is produced using methods that reduce biodiversity, decimate soil and contribute to climate change. (35 min)
“Changing Season: On the Masumoto Family Farm” explores the transition of the Masumoto Farm through two generations. David “Mas” Masumoto’s daughter Nikiko has returned home to work with her father and keep the farm alive for another generation, and their relationship to the farm to the each other is explored by documentary filmmakers Jim Choi and Chihiro Wimbush. (55 min)
Please RSVP using the ticket link, whether you are a farmer or a fan of farmers. There will be a cash bar featuring some fermented favorites from SHED upstairs, and guests are welcome to bring up drinks from SHED’s Fermentation or Coffee Bars.
