New Year’s Eve 2017 Sparkling Wine Guide

While we love sparkling wine any time of year, there’s no question that the holiday season is the time to break out the bubbly. Whether you’re enjoying oysters to start your NYE dinner at SHED Cafe, or picking up a bottle in our Healdsburg store on the way to the party, we offer a great selection of sparkling wines to bring in 2018!

Here are a few favorites with tasting notes from SHED Beverage and Café Manager Patricia Philitsa:

Larmandier-Bernier Rosé De Saignée-Champagne 1er Cru Extra-Brut, NV, Champagne ($78) A Pinot Noir rosé, and favored with rich fish, this is a berries-and-cream wonder that stands up nicely to heavier fare.

Larmandier-Bernier Vieille Vigne De Cramant, 2007, Champagne ($100)
Fresh and complex, this blanc de blanc is a true treat when paired with our local Dungeness crab.

Larmandier-Bernier Latitude Blanc De Blancs Extra-Brut, NV, Champagne ($65)
An extra Brut charmer, this lower-cost sparkling is a perfect complement to shellfish dishes.

Raventos i Blanc, De Nit, 2015, Penedès, Spain ($28)
This Catalonian Cava is a dry sparkler that can fuel a party as well as it can an intimate dinner.

Roederer L’Ermitage Rosé 2009, Anderson Valley ($75)
This Champagne-style blush sparkler from nearby Anderson Valley is a perfect foil to that wild-caught salmon you’ve been hungry for.

Signal Ridge, Tiny Pink Bubbles, Sparkling Wine, Anderson Valley ($26)
Naming it one of its top 100 wines, the San Francisco Chronicle praises Signal Ridge’s Tiny Pink Bubbles as “the wine to beat in American bubbles.”

Davis Family Rosé de Noir, 2014, Russian River Valley ($60)
Made entirely from Pinot Noir grapes from cool climate Dutton Ranch in Russian River Valley. This limited production sparkling rosé is light and elegant with nuanced layers of orange blossom, rose petal, and bright Bing cherry.
